Shantaram has only ever been privately owned and used. She is a clean, tidy, fully functional and very well-equipped compact cruising catamaran at an affordable price – a rare find in today’s market.

This yacht will delight families wanting an easy-to-handle catamaran with ample sail capability. Her smart layout includes a u-shaped saloon lounge that seats six comfortably, while three large, comfortable cabins offer plenty of natural light and storage. Designed by legendary naval architect Alexander Simonis, and built in South Africa by Maxim Yachts, this catamaran was very strongly built to high manufacturing standards. With her light displacement, she sails well and in absolute safety in all weather.

Shantaram’s current Canadian owners have thoroughly enjoyed many summers of liveaboard self-sufficiency supported by her solar and watermaker. Sadly, their future plans involve a return to land, prompting their decision to part with the yacht.

Her Raymarine electronics suite, upgraded in 2019, includes AIS and her batteries were replaced in 2022. The reliable Yanmar 30hp engines are inexpensive to run and never miss a beat. The covered cockpit and saloon windows have extra shades for hot summer days.

Othe extras include fishing gear, swim toys, snorkel gear, an aluminum dive tank and BCD, a pressure washer, bosuns chair and climbing harness and a large selection of Mediterranean charts and pilot books.
