Nordia Van Dam
1984 Nordia 19 | Wetnose
Wetnose was designed for world cruising in luxury and style, with safety and comfort in mind. Her sleek classic topsides, combined with the proven virtues of a classic heavy displacement hull, result in a classic looking yacht with aesthetically pleasing proportions with the volume and storage usually found only on much larger yachts.
This stylish pilothouse, cutter rigged sloop, was designed for fast, comfortable ocean passage making with fully instrumented steering positions both in the rear cockpit as well as within the shelter of the fully enclosed pilothouse. This configuration provides the ability to navigate and manage the vessel from a sheltered position with excellent visibility in extreme conditions, or sail with the wind in your hair from the aft helm position. Built in Holland by the famous Van Dam Shipyard to the highest standards all under the supervision of German Lloyds 11A4 without regard to costs.
Being constructed in steel for durability and safety, particularly when cruising in coral waters, Wetnose supports a long deep keel configuration providing excellent directional stability and sea kindliness.
Both the genoa and cutter headsails are fitted to hydraulic Reckman furlers. The mainsail is also fitted to an in mast hydraulic furler. Electric winches surrounding the cockpit make for easy short-handed sailing as well. The 165 HP Volvo diesel together with the hydraulic bow thruster facilitate easy handling under power and when manoeuvring in restricted areas. The walk-in engine room makes for a happy mechanic as well!
The interior is tasteful with all modern conveniences. The four-cabin layout provides flexibility for extended cruising by an owner with guests and is equally well suited for families with children.
With just a few new upgrades, Wetnose will take you on epic adventures anywhere around the world.
