Gilles Watelot

Born in New Caledonia and raised between Nouméa and Tahiti, Gilles has had a lifelong connection to the ocean. His early career began with military service in the Nautical Police Brigade in Nouméa before he transitioned to the maritime industry, launching a taxi-boat company and later co-managing a yacht charter business.

Building on this foundational experience, Gilles founded his own sailing catamaran charter company, AITO CHARTER, in 2005. His success in the industry led to a partnership with Dream Yacht Charter, where he was entrusted with managing and developing their new base in New Caledonia. Gilles successfully ran this operation until 2018, when he refocused on growing AITO Charter.

In parallel with his charter business, Gilles founded Seaside Marine Services, a company dedicated to assisting cruising yachts passing through New Caledonia and managing the sale of pre-owned sailing and motor yachts.

With his deep local knowledge and extensive experience across a wide range of yacht types, Gilles is uniquely positioned to assist clients of The Yacht Sales Co. in buying or selling yachts in the region. His broad expertise, combined with a passion for the yachting lifestyle, makes him an invaluable resource for anyone navigating the maritime market in New Caledonia and French Polynesia.
