Below is a comprehensive step-by-step guide to help you navigate the exciting process of selecting and purchasing your new yacht with the industry’s leading yacht specialists.
PART 1: Choose Your New Boat
Step 1. Consider Which Yacht May Be Right For You
When purchasing a new yacht, there are numerous factors to consider to ensure your investment aligns with your lifestyle and expectations. While our New Yacht Sales team will assist you every step of the way, we recommend reviewing the following considerations to help refine your yacht wish list:
1. Power or Sail | This choice is deeply personal and often influenced by prior experiences or lifestyle preferences. If you’re considering a change or are uncertain, our Sales Consultants are happy to help you explore the options.
2. Size | Consider where you will store your yacht. Does your current berth or mooring accommodate specific beam, height or draft dimensions? If you don’t yet have a berth, research marina availability in your preferred cruising area. While yachts of all sizes are designed to be manageable, evaluate whether you’ll need additional help or if you’re comfortable handling the yacht alone or with a partner or small crew.
3. Type of Use | Think about how you intend to use your yacht; are you considering extended blue-water cruising or coastal cruising in a particular area? Do you have any range or speed expectations?
4. Delivery Date | Due to the high demand for our premium brands, certain models may require 12-24 months from order to delivery. Your Sales Consultant will provide details on current stock and timelines.
5. Budget | Having a clear budget in mind is essential. Determine your maximum purchase amount, factoring in the running costs based on your intended usage.
6. Learn from Other Owners | Explore insights and advice from our past and current owners on our website. Their experiences can provide valuable perspectives to help guide your decision.
Relax, We’re Here to Help! |While this process might feel overwhelming, our team is dedicated to simplifying it for you. We aim to establish a long-term relationship with every client, ensuring you find the yacht that perfectly matches your lifestyle and budget, without any unexpected surprises.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Step 2. Request Information
With the above considerations in mind, we then invite you to complete our New Boat Information Request Form.
This form is designed to gather key details about your preferences and requirements, enabling us to match you with the most suitable member of our Sales team. By providing this information, we can ensure a seamless and personalised experience as we help you select the perfect yacht.
Once you submit the form, a dedicated Sales Consultant will contact you promptly to discuss your requirements in detail, provide tailored advice, and answer any questions you may have.

Step 3. Narrowing Your Search & Obtaining a Written Quote
Once you have shortlisted a selection of yachts that align with your lifestyle and budget-or narrowed the search to a couple of models-your Sales Consultant will discuss the available options and cruising packages tailored to each model. This will include highlighting and evaluating the defining features of each yacht on your shortlist to help identify the best fit for your needs.
You will then receive detailed written quotes, including:
- A breakdown of the base price, optional features, and available delivery options.
- Delivery options such as collection ex-factory from the shipyard or delivery to your home port.
- The option to have your quote provided in your preferred currency for added convenience.
Our goal is to ensure you have all the information needed to make a confident and informed decision.
Step 4. Boat Inspection
If the written quote provided aligns with your budget expectations, your Sales Consultant will arrange an inspection of the model you’re interested in or a comparable model available within our network.
While we may not always have every model on hand for viewing, we leverage a network of demonstration yachts. These yachts, generously made available by current owners, can be inspected when mutually convenient.
Inspections may require travel to interstate or international locations, and any associated costs will typically be the buyer’s responsibility unless otherwise agreed during the purchase process.
Your Sales Consultant will work closely with you to coordinate a viewing that suits your schedule, ensuring you have the opportunity to experience the yacht firsthand before finalising your decision.
Step 5. Sea Trial
The final step in your decision-making process is experiencing the yacht on the water. This will typically involve a sea trial of the model you’ve selected or a similar model from our network.
Due to the time and costs associated with arranging a sea trial, we require that you finalise the base pricing of your chosen yacht with your Sales Consultant before proceeding. As with inspections, we may use a network of demonstration yachts generously made available by current owners for sea trial purposes.
Your Sales Consultant will work with you to organise a sea trial that fits your schedule, providing you with the opportunity to evaluate the yacht’s performance and features firsthand. This crucial step ensures you have complete confidence in your choice before moving forward.
What’s Next?
Once you’ve decided on your new yacht, the next step is to submit your order to the factory to secure your delivery date.
Your Sales Consultant will guide you through this process, ensuring all details-such as specifications, options and delivery preferences-are finalised. Once the order is submitted, we will provide regular updates on your yacht’s progress, from production through to delivery.
PART 2: How To Order Your New Boat
Step 1: Complete Your Order Form & Initial Payment
To begin the order process, we kindly ask that you complete and sign the New Boat Order Form and make an initial payment towards your order deposit. The Order Form will also provide an opportunity to outline any specific conditions or custom requirements you may have for your yacht.

If you prefer to submit a hard copy of the Order Form, please reach out to your Sales Consultant, who will be happy to email you a PDF version for you to complete and submit.
Once your order is confirmed, we will work with you to finalise all details and provide updates on your yacht’s production and delivery.
Step 2: Pay Balance of 20% Order Deposit
Within 7 days of completing your Order Form, a deposit equal to 20% of your order (less any initial payment made) is required to confirm your commitment and allow The Yacht Sales Co. to secure a delivery date with the shipyard. This deposit ensures that your order is formally processed and that we can begin coordinating the production of your yacht.
If you are unable to provide the full 20% deposit, please contact our CFO who will be happy to discuss alternative terms to possibly accommodate your needs.
Step 3: Choosing Your Factory Options*
Once any conditions outlined in your Order Form have been satisfied, our Service Team will contact you to arrange a Preliminary Factory Options meeting, which can be held either over the phone or in person.
During this meeting, your Service representative will review and explain the various options available for your chosen model. This will help you finalise your preliminary specifications, which will then be included as Appendix 1 of your Purchase Agreement. (Please note that these options are flexible and can be adjusted up until the close date).
* Factory Options refer to any optional items that are supplied and fitted to the yacht by the shipyard prior to its completion.
Step 4: Purchase Agreement
Once you have selected your Factory Options, we will email you the Purchase Agreement for your review. This Agreement will detail all aspects of your order, including specifications, pricing, and delivery terms.
Please carefully review the Agreement, and once you are satisfied with the details, sign and return it via reply email. A counter-signed copy will then be sent to you for your records.
Note: The Purchase Agreement will include a comprehensive breakdown of all future payment amounts and due dates, ensuring you have clear visibility of the financial commitments throughout the process.
Step 5: Closing of Factory Options*
Approximately 6 – 8 months before your yacht’s completion date, our Service Team will reach out to schedule your Closing of Factory Options meeting.
This meeting provides your final opportunity to make any adjustments to your factory order or specifications. During this time, our team will be available to assist you with any additional information or clarification you may need to finalise your choices.
Step 6: Ex-Factory Options
Approximately 5 months before your yacht’s completion, our Service Team will contact you to discuss Ex-Factory Options. Your Service Representative will use their extensive experience to recommend options tailored to your model and specific usage requirements, ensuring that every detail complements your plans for the boat. These Ex-Factory Options are a work-in-progress and will be finalised approximately 4 months before your yacht’s completion date.
Note: Ex-Factory Options refer to items supplied and fitted to the yacht by an independent contractor after the boat has been completed at the factory. This allows for additional customisation beyond the factory’s standard options.
Step 7: Notice of Completion Payment
Upon receiving notice of your yacht’s completion (approximately 1 month prior to delivery), you will be required to make the final payment toward your new boat order.
This final payment ensures that everything is in place for the delivery and handover of your yacht, allowing you to begin enjoying your new vessel as soon as it arrives. Your Sales Consultant will provide you with the necessary details regarding the final payment amount and due date.
Step 8: Delivery or Ex-Factory Pick Up
Whether you have chosen to collect your yacht directly from the factory or have it delivered to your designated location, our team will be there to assist you throughout the entire process.
We are committed to ensuring that every detail is in place for a smooth and seamless delivery experience. Our goal is your complete satisfaction, and we won’t rest until you are fully happy with your new yacht and ready to sign your Delivery Acceptance.
Step 9: After-Sales Service & Warranty
Our service extends far beyond the moment you sail off into the sunset. The Yacht Sales Co. has earned an industry-wide reputation for excellence in after-sales service, ensuring that you receive continuous support throughout your ownership experience.
Our dedicated Service Team is always available to assist with any needs that may arise, from handling warranty claims to providing general maintenance and service support. No matter where you are in the world, we are committed to ensuring your ongoing satisfaction.
