James Scheerer is a 1995 Brady 12.5, a 41-foot, three-cabin sailing catamaran designed for comfortable blue-water cruising and extended liveaboard life. Originally built as an expedition camera vessel operating in Western Australia’s Shark Bay, she later returned to New South Wales where she enjoyed a successful period as a charter vessel, before becoming a much-loved family cruising catamaran. Since then, she has regularly explored the Great Barrier Reef and Australia’s east coast.

She has benefited from continual upgrades, including new engines, rigging, sails, watermaker and electronics, with a significant refit programme undertaken from 2021 to the present. The navigation suite is a standout feature, comprising a Garmin chartplotter, radar, wind instruments, forward-facing sonar, Vesper Marine WatchMate AIS and a Coursemaster CM95 autopilot. Together, these systems provide excellent situational awareness on passage and added confidence when entering ports or anchorages.
