2002 Island Spirit 40 | Catimini

Catimini is a beautiful one-owner-from-new Island Spirit 40 built in Cape Town for tough South African conditions. The two-cabin catamaran has had a great life sailing around the world in the last few years with her dedicated owners who have lavished care and spared no expense to maintain her in immaculate condition.

With enough spares for another circumnavigation plus all the tools required and good sails and rigging, she presents almost as new. Recently resprayed and with every item carefully maintained, Catimini is truly a turn-key catamaran for an adventurous couple who like to host the occasional guests.

She features expansive saloon seating for 6 – 8 with a drop-down table that can accommodate an extra couple. There is a spacious chart table to starboard and technical area aft. Her extra beam means her interior is a generous, air-conditioned space to enjoy if the weather is too hot or cold.

The galley-down boasts ample preparation space, and a workshop area forward means all aspects of cruising life are taken care of.  The Owner’s hull is exceptionally spacious and enjoys an ensuite with large shower and separate head. There is a light-filled guest cabin aft with queen-sized bed and abundance of storage.

As with all the Southern cats, her aft cockpit is huge compared to some more modern models and features a weatherproof windscreen, hard bimini and surrounding shadecloth, affording excellent protection from the elements.

Energy needs are taken care of with recent wind, solar and a backup genset available, although with Lithium storage batteries, the genset hardy needs running. The Yanmar engines were rebuilt recently, so she has many more years of motoring should the wind drop.
