2019 Schionning G Force 17C | Wildfire
A spectacular performance catamaran, WildFire’s glowing golden hulls are well-known in anchorages up and down the eastern seaboard, from Port Phillip Bay to Lizard Island.
Designed for speed, safety and comfort, the slender 17-metre hulls combined with a 22-metre rotating carbon fibre rig and full suite of North Sails, deliver the speed, while a spacious interior accommodates all the luxuries of home.
More than capable of crossing oceans, this vessel represents a fantastic opportunity for new owners to enjoy an adventurous lifestyle, cruising the coast, visiting reefs and islands near & far and even heading offshore.
WildFire was built by her current owners and commissioned in 2019, working closely with legendary designer Jeff Schionning, who consulted and visited often throughout the build, along with Kiwi boat builder Dan Kellahan, to deliver their custom design to the highest standards of strength, safety and performance.
There are carbon fibre reinforcements in high stress areas and all bulkheads, including multiple crash bulkheads in the bows. Instead of bilges there are a number of sealed compartments to maintain positive buoyancy for added safety.
Though capable of great speeds, WildFire has never been raced. She is well-powered by two 75hp Yanmar engines with the strength and reliability of shaft drives. Thick sound and heat insulation throughout the interior delivers a quieter, more comfortable ride, even at high speeds. Extra reinforcement on the bottom, coupled with kick up rudders, means the vessel can be beached, and certainly sneak up into the shallowest of anchorages without fear.
Cruising speeds of 8-10 knots under engine are outdone by sailing, where wind speed is often achieved or exceeded. Sails include a mainsail, self-tacking headsail, screecher, asymmetric spinnaker and storm jib all from North Sails. WildFire is a light, easily handled boat, that can be safely sailed short-handed.
Her surprisingly generous interior volume accommodates comforts including two king sized cabins, leather seating, Corian benchtops in the galley, a microwave, washing machine, Smart TV, watermaker and more. Extra sleeping accommodation for family and friends includes a queen, a double and a single bunk.
No expense has been spared in the construction or maintenance of this exceptional craft that turns heads wherever she sails. The owners are often asked if WildFire is a new Gunboat or HH Catamaran, and they are proud to point out her unique design is by Australia’s most highly respected designer of performance catamarans.
The Dyneema lashings on the standing rigging were replaced in 2023 and she has spent the past few months being ‘˜pampered’ at The Boat Works. WildFire is in turnkey condition, so all you need to do is provision up, step on board and set sail!
