1984 (2019–2020) Moody 47 | Mara
SV Mara is a proven bluewater cruiser, well-equipped for comfortable and safe offshore adventures. Built by Moody Yachts in 1984, she underwent a substantial refit in 2019–2020, ensuring she remains a reliable and capable long-range passagemaker.
This solidly constructed centre cockpit yacht features a versatile two-cabin layout, including a spacious aft master suite with dual access. Her hydraulically operated swing keel reduces draft to just 1.45m, ideal for exploring shallow Pacific reefs and atolls. The hull is protected with Coppercoat antifouling for long-term durability.
Sailing short-handed is easy, with hydraulic winches and furling systems offering effortless handling from the secure centre cockpit. Her standing rigging was recently replaced, adding to her offshore readiness.
Powered by a dependable 2014 Yanmar 75hp diesel engine (just over 2,000 hours) and a three-blade folding propeller, Mara is complemented by robust off-grid systems, including:
- 600Ah lithium house battery bank
- 700W solar array
- Large alternator
- Low-hours 7.5kW generator
- Watermaker
- Starlink Gen 3 and Iridium Go for global communications
Additional features include a near-new 2024 tender package (3.4m RIB with Tohatsu 18hp 2-stroke outboard) and an Airline EI60 Hookah dive system with a 60’ hose.
SV Mara is tax paid in both French Polynesia and the USA.
