A versatile cruiser/racer, Antaeus is comfortably sailed short-handed for extended cruising, yet in race mode, she transforms into a high-performance yacht capable of accommodating a large crew.

Designed by acclaimed New Zealand yacht designer Laurie Davidson and built by Tony Ruiterman to ABS standards, Antaeus was launched in September 1992. Since then, she has proven herself across the South Pacific, excelling in numerous races and setting several offshore records.

This 60-foot sloop features a lifting bulb keel, bow thruster, electric winches, and comprehensive cockpit controls—optimising her for both competitive racing and long-range cruising across a wide range of conditions.

In 2006, Antaeus underwent a significant refit, transforming her from a dedicated racer into a high-performance cruiser. Upgrades included electric winches, roller furling headsails, and a Leisure Furl mainsail, all enhancing both her handling and ease of operation.

One of her standout features is the lifting keel, which reduces draft from 4 metres to 2.7 metres—perfect for varied cruising grounds. The bow thruster adds confidence and ease when manoeuvring in tight marinas or alongside docks.

Her interior is finished in elegant moulded Rimu timber with leather upholstery, offering warm and refined comfort below decks. Accommodation is generous, sleeping up to 10 guests across two staterooms and two bathrooms—ideal for long passages or comfortable coastal cruising.

Powered by a well-maintained 112-horsepower Cummins diesel engine, Antaeus cruises efficiently at 9 knots. She is also equipped with a 3.5m Aquapro tender and 2hp outboard, as well as an extensive inventory of tools and spares.

Performance is where Antaeus truly shines—capable of upwind speeds of 9 knots and exceeding 20 knots downwind. Her long-distance capability and ease of handling by a small crew consistently deliver 200+ nautical mile days, making her an exceptional choice for serious offshore sailing.
