2008 Bavaria 46 Cruiser | Ohana

Ohana is a 2008 Bavaria 46 Cruiser, a well-regarded model known for its spacious design, solid German construction, and a strong blend of comfort and sailing performance. Designed for extended cruising, the Bavaria 46 offers ample living space and dependable handling, making it ideal for both families and serious sailors.

We purchased Ohana in 2019 in Rügen, Germany. Before that, she had served as a charter boat sailing in and around the Baltic Sea, primarily between Denmark and the Eastern Seaboard. Given the short Scandinavian sailing seasons, she had relatively low mileage despite her age.

Coming from the charter fleet, Ohana was equipped with only the essentials—an ideal blank slate. This allowed us to completely outfit her to our own specifications, focusing on liveaboard comfort, long-range capability, and full self-sufficiency. Nearly every onboard system was installed and optimized by us.

In spring 2021, our family of four set sail from Denmark. We journeyed through Europe, crossed the Atlantic in December 2021, spent a year exploring the Caribbean, and then continued across the Pacific via the Galápagos Islands to French Polynesia in spring 2023. Ohana has been sailing in Polynesian waters ever since.

She has been a wonderful floating home—spacious, reliable, and enjoyable to sail. Sadly, as we now prepare to return to our work life in Denmark, it is time to pass Ohana on to new owners who will continue her journey.
