1980 Formosa 41 Ketch | Hide Out
Hide Out is a Formosa 41 in excellent condition and one of the finest you will find.
The yacht has been regularly maintained by her current owner who has had her for the past six years, using the boat very lightly while cruising up and down the east coast of Australia. During this time there have been many additions and upgrades, including new batteries and refrigeration, new stove, canvas and more.
Built to a William Garden design by the Ta-Chiao shipyard in Taiwan, Formosa yachts are highly sought after and prized as long-range cruisers due to their bulletproof build and comfortable seakeeping abilities. The fibreglass hull is hand laid, thick and very solid and the long keel is encapsulated for extra safety.
Accommodation onboard Hide Out is comfortable and offers room for five to sleep. The aft master cabin is spacious, and the forward cabin also has a good-sized double berth. There is a convertible saloon table for extra berthing when required or as a comfortable place to doze on night passages.
The large galley contains a fridge, freezer, propane stove and sink and would put some much larger boats to shame.
The interior joinery is all solid teak with some finely figured carvings. Hide Out is a real gentleman’s yacht from an age when form never gave way to function and with features of some of the most beautiful yachts of a previous era. The wooden spars and teak varnish are all in superb condition.
Located at The Boat Works Marine Precinct on Queensland’s Gold Coast, Hide Out is currently on the hard for ease of inspection.
