Over the weekend The Yacht Sales Co and our sister company Multihull Solutions had the honour of being invited to the opening of the 137th Sailing Season at Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron.
Brisbane turned on a beautiful spring day for the official opening ceremony lead by Commodore David Redfern. Commodore Redfern emphasised the importance of the Youth Sailing Program which is sponsored by Multihull Solutions and The Yacht Sales Co. Gumdale State Primary School alone has 700 students participating in the program, which illustrates the volumes on our future sailors and Olympians coming through the ranks at RQYS.
Queensland’s outgoing Governor and club patron Paul de Jersey officially opened the season while the fleet and all sailors were blessed by the local chaplain. Then more than 70 power and sail boats took part in the official sail past flying their dress flags. Once the official part of the day was done all attendees enjoyed socialising on the club lawns.
It was a privilege to be a part of this event and we look forward to what this sailing season will bring.
